The setting determines the plan.

A sitter in a family home, a substitute in a licensed center, and a sitter team at an event are different assignments. Screening, supervision, ratios, records, and responsibilities should be confirmed for the actual setting.

Ages, needs, and ratios

Share each child’s age, routines, communication needs, allergies, toileting needs, and accommodations. Team size is planned from the group and setting, with applicable Oklahoma requirements confirmed before staffing.

Screening and credentials

Ask which background checks, CPR or First Aid credentials, training, and facility-specific documentation apply to the caregiver and assignment.

Sick-child boundaries

Describe symptoms and care needs before booking. Acceptance depends on the setting, caregiver role, exposure risk, parent instructions, and whether the request stays within non-clinical childcare.

Booking and backup

Recurring care, substitute staffing, and short-notice requests have different lead times. Confirm the schedule, rate, minimum, arrival plan, authorized pickups, and backup process in writing.

For childcare programs: the licensed facility remains responsible for its own compliance, supervision, records, and required ratios. Staffing should be coordinated with the program’s director before the assignment.
